Who We Are

The Marine Park Young Adults Association is a Brooklyn-based not-for-profit registered with the State of New York, dedicated to building connections, fostering civic engagement, and bringing neighbors together through social, cultural, and volunteer events. Founded in June 2024 by Sam Daniele and Vincent Sinatra, we began as a community space for young adults (ages 18–35) to meet, make friends, and share meaningful experiences — but quickly grew into an inclusive organization that welcomes individuals of all ages.

Our core events — like karaoke nights, board games, trivia, and casual meetups — are tailored to young adults, while our larger community gatherings include concerts and outdoor movie nights at the historic Hendrick I. Lott House, as well as volunteer projects like neighborhood cleanups, street tree care days, and donation drives. By partnering with nonprofits such as Community Heartbeat Foundation, and city agencies, such as NYC Parks, we extend our impact across southern Brooklyn.

We also run Climate Cafe South Brooklyn, part of the NYC Climate Cafe network, providing a supportive space for residents to discuss how climate change affects daily life and build community resilience. Whether you're looking for a vibrant peer community, hoping to get involved in local volunteer projects, or just want to enjoy live music under the stars, the Marine Park Young Adults Association has something for you.

Climate Cafe South Brooklyn

Climate Cafe South Brooklyn is a welcoming, all-ages space to share thoughts and emotions about climate change in a supportive, nonjudgmental setting. These cozy, café-style gatherings focus on:

  • Building emotional resilience
  • Encouraging personal reflection
  • Facilitating community connection
  • Promoting climate literacy and local action

As a local chapter of Climate Cafe NYC, this initiative reflects our belief that real change starts with honest conversation.

Marine Park Litter Pickup Club

Spotlight: Marine Park Litter Pickup Club

The Marine Park Litter Pickup Club was launched by the Marine Park Young Adults Association after noticing a need for more organized cleanup efforts in the neighborhood. Our first cleanup took place on April 25, 2026, when volunteers worked for hours in cold, rainy weather along Quentin Road between East 34th and East 37th Streets, collecting cigarette butts, plastic bottles, and other litter with grabbers, gloves, brooms, bags, and dustpans.

The club welcomes volunteers of all ages and is focused on giving neighbors a simple, hands-on way to care for Marine Park and southern Brooklyn. MPYAA is grateful to DSNY for coordinating trash pickup and to Pizza Emporium for generously feeding volunteers after the cleanup.

The Marine Park Litter Pickup Club plans to host cleanups every few months and continue building a stronger culture of local stewardship. To get involved, please email us!
